Command Master Chief (SCW/EXW) Scottie L. Cox

Command Master Chief Scottie L. Cox, a native of Salem, Oregon, enlisted in the Navy in September 1990, after attending basic training in San Diego, California, before reporting to Builder "A" school in Gulfport, Mississippi. 

His subsequent commands include Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) ONE, (Gulfport, MS), NMCBs FIVE (twice), and THREE (Port Hueneme, CA), 31st Seabee Readiness Group (Port Hueneme, CA), Naval Construction Training Center (Port Hueneme, CA), Public Works Departments at Naval Air Station (NAS) Keflavik, Iceland and NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, Naval Civil Engineer Corps Officer School (Port Hueneme, CA), 1st Naval Construction Division (Virginia Beach, VA), Naval Expeditionary Combat Command (Virginia Beach, VA), Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering (CSFE) (Port Hueneme, CA), and Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) (China Lake, CA).   

Master Chief Cox has deployed worldwide 11 times to multiple locations including Guam, Diego Garcia, Spain (Rota), Cuba (Guantanamo Bay), Africa (Somalia, Liberia, and the Congo), Italy (Naples), Iraq (Balad), and Japan (Okinawa and Sasebo).   He has served in a variety of leadership positions throughout his career and as the Command Master Chief for NMCB FIVE, CSFE, and NAWCWD. 

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Battle Efficiency Ribbon (two awards), Good Conduct Medal with a silver star, two National Defense Service Medals, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (two silver stars), Navy Overseas service Ribbon (two awards), Navy Expert Rifleman Medal, and Navy Expert Pistol Medal.
