Maj. Gen. Richard T. Tryon (left), Commanding General, 2nd Marine Division, awards the Silver Star Medal to Capt. John Roussos (right), former platoon commander for Bravo 3, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, at a ceremony at Ellis Field, Courthouse Bay, here, Sept. 12. Roussos, a Princeton, N.J., native and Norwich University graduate, received the Silver Star Medal for his heroic actions performed on March 7, 2008, in Iraq. “Roussos knowingly and willingly exposed himself to enemy fire with the intent of drawing fire away from his machine gunner and driver, and risked his life for his men,” said Maj.
