Marines with 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, conducted a live-fire exercise at a tank platoon gunnery range for qualification at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 23, 2016. 2nd Tanks provided direct fire on various targets along the range while moving up and over the berms to improve their reaction times while firing with their M1A1 Abrams tanks. The gunnery range was part of a weeklong, large-scale operation known as Iron Blitz. Iron Blitz, a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation, tested 2nd Tanks in their ability to integrate all aspects of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force and function as a deployment-ready unit.
