Lance Cpl. Mark Haegele, combat engineer, 3rd Platoon, Company C, 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, enjoys a laugh with Richard Gustafson, the father of Lance Cpl. Alex Gustafson, also a combat engineer with 3rd Platoon. Haegele and two other injured Marines with the platoon returned from a combat deployment to Afghanistan early due to their injuries, but their wounds would not stop them from being there to welcome the rest of their brothers home. - Lance Cpl. Following the Memorial PT session the Marines were gathered together and asked to share their personal testimonials of the 9/11 attacks. - Cpl. Marines with 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion and 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, participated in a six day training exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Sept. 9-14. Lee Miller Jr., the acting commanding general of the 2nd Marine Division, as he talked with them about what he liked and what needed improvement with the recently completed exercise. Northport, Long Island, N.Y., native Seaman Darryl St. George, a corpsman with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, was a student at Marymount Manhattan College when the World Trade Center was attacked Sept. 11, 2001.
