Staff Sgt. Andrew Giermann with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, helps train Marines from the battalion on the new M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle meant to replace the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon in the unit’s upcoming deployment. Many of the key features of the IAR, such as a smooth trigger pull and an upgraded butt stock for less recoil, have turned several of the battalion’s SAW gunners into lifetime fans of the M27.
