The musicians of the 2d Marine Division Concert Band have spanned the continental United States entertaining audiences with a variety of music. Performance numbers are selected from familiar patriotic marches, overtures, instrumental, and vocal solos, traditional classics, and contemporary pop favorites. With an authorized strength of one officer and 50 enlisted Marines, the band travels the country, carrying on a long-standing tradition of excellence and service to both Corps and Country.
Performing as a military field band, the musicians of the 2d Marine Division Ceremonial Band have traveled the Eastern United States providing ceremonial support for military and civilian audiences. The Ceremonial Band has performed at many recognized civilian events to include the Columbus Day Parade in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Mardis Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This traditional chamber ensemble is comprised of two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba. Noted for a wide array of musical styles and selections, a typical program may range from Bach’s classical pieces to W. C. Handy’s Jazz.
A rhythm section consisting of a drummer, bass, piano and guitar is the heart of the Jazz Combo. Performing a variety of music ranging from classic jazz standards to contemporary fusion arrangements, this group often features soloists on horns and pitched percussion.
Not your traditional Marine Corps small ensemble, this contemporary ensemble performs music from a wide variety of genres while interacting with the audience. The ability to appeal to all age groups is one of this group’s greatest attributes.
The brass choir calls upon the use of many pitched trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums, tubas and percussionists in various combinations, in order to perform transcriptions and arrangements of classic symphonic repertoire. The brass choir has been featured in many performances, from formal concerts to festivals, as well as military ceremonies.
The newest addition to the 2d Marine Division Band, the Rock Band consists of guitar, bass, and drums. From acoustic settings to rock and roll, this ensemble performs both current and classic top 40 hits.
