Sergeant Major Jay D Williamson
Sergeant Major Williamson attended recruit training in January 1995 at Parris Island, South Carolina and graduated from boot camp as a Private First Class.
July 1995 PFC Williamson was assigned the MOS of Bulk Fuel Specialist (1391) and assigned to MWSS-172 (Fuels), Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. October 1995 he was promoted to Lance Corporal and deployed with the 31st MEU.
Lance Corporal Williamson transferred from Camp Foster August 1996 to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was stationed with Bulk Fuel Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion where he held various billets to include MIMMS and HAZMAT NCO. While at CAX he was meritoriously promoted to Corporal in June 1997. Corporal Williamson was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant November 1998. Sergeant Williamson was the Battalion Color Guard Sergeant for 8th ESB. While at Camp Lejeune he was selected as NCO of the Year for FY 1998.
August 1999 Sergeant Williamson was transferred to CSSG-3, MCB Hawaii where he held the billet of SORTS NCO. Sergeant Williamson was selected as NCO of the Year for FY 2000. July 2000 Sergeant Williamson obtained a new primary MOS of Enlisted MAGTF Planner (0511).
February 2001 Sergeant Williamson transferred to Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Camp Smith Hawaii for duty in G3 as a MAGTF Planner and assigned the Korean Area of Responsibility. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant January 2002. February 2002 he was deployed to Marine Forces Central Command Bahrain to stand up the Force Deployment Plans and Execution cell and held the MARCENT Plans Officers billet until August 2002. Upon his return to MARFORPAC he assumed the duties as the MARFORPAC FDP&E Chief until April 2004.
May 2004 Staff Sergeant Williamson transferred to Marine Security Guard Battalion for duty as a Detachment Commander. July 2004 he assumed command of MSG Detachment Manama, Bahrain. July 2005 he was meritoriously promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. March 2006 Gunnery Sergeant Williamson was selected to open a new Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
After a successful tour on the MSG program Gunnery Sergeant Williamson was assigned to a joint tour with the Army at XVIII Airborne Corps (ABC), Fort Bragg. Gunnery Sergeant Williamson was assigned as Plans Chief for XVIII ABC and deployed to Iraq with Multi-National Corps-Iraq from January 2008 to April 2009.
May 2009 he was frocked to First Sergeant and transferred to 2d Assault Amphibian Battalion, Camp Lejeune and served as the Company First Sergeant for Charlie and H&S Companies. January 2011 he deployed with Charlie Company on Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Combat Assault Battalion, Okinawa, Japan for eight months.
July 2012 he was transferred to 3d Radio Battalion as the Battalion Sergeant Major until November 2012. Then he was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Alpha Co, 3d Radio Bn until June 2014.
June 2014 First Sergeant Williamson was frocked to Sergeant Major and assumed his duties as the Sergeant Major of Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Training Squadron 1 on 2 July 2014.
April 2016 Sergeant Major Williamson was transferred to his current assignment as the Sergeant Major of 2d Tanks Bn.
Sergeant Major Williamson’s personal decorations include Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal w/1 gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/3 gold stars, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/3 gold stars.
Sergeant Major Williamson and his wife, Tina, have eight children; Jacob, Ashley, Joey, Cameron, Glynne, Danielle, Malorie, and Meredith.
