Sergeant Major Clifford Fincham

Sergeant Major Fincham enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1996 and he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class upon completion of Recruit Training in Parris Island, SC. Upon conclusion of Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Geiger, NC, he attended the Basic Electronics Course, Marine Corps Communications Electronics School, 29 Palms, CA, where he was named honor graduate of the class and subsequently meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal.

After completing his follow-on Communications Security Equipment technician course in Fort Gordon, GA, he reported to his first duty station, Marine Wing Communication Squadron 18, Okinawa, Japan in 1997. While there, he excelled among his peer group and earned meritorious promotion to Corporal and later received the Gung Ho Award in addition to being named Honor Graduate of Corporals Course.

Promoted to Sergeant and receiving orders in 1999, he reported to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 28, Cherry Point, NC. While there he assumed the duties as Secure Cryptographic Site Section Chief and the Platoon Sergeant for Maintenance Platoon. In 2001, his initiative and work ethic resulted in him being hand-selected to serve on the Commandant's Communication Team, Headquarters Marine Corps. In 2002, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. In addition to providing continuous world-wide communication support for Commandant's General Jones and General Hagee, he further distinguished himself by receiving the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Writing Award and was named Honor Graduate of Career Course in 2005.

In 2006, following his assignment at Headquarters Marine Corps, he received orders to Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division, NC and was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. In 2007 he deployed to Fallujah Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters Company. In 2009 he again deployed with Communications Company as the Company Gunnery Sergeant to the Helmand Province Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

In 2010, he was promoted to First Sergeant and served as Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant for Machine Gun Platoon, Chicopee, Massachusetts. After deactivating the unit in 2012, he received orders to First Battalion, Ninth Marines, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served in Headquarters and Service Company. In 2013 he again deployed to the Helmand Province Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM with Alpha Company. When the unit deactivated in 2014, he received orders to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC to be the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant.

Promoted to Sergeant Major in March 2016, he reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Pittsburgh to assume the duties as the Sergeant Major. In July 2019, he assumed the duties as Regimental Sergeant Major for Combat Logistics Regiment 2. In May 2022, he was assigned to his current position as the Battalion Sergeant Major for Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division.

Sergeant Major Fincham currently holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, and his personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Stars in lieu of 3rd Award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Silver and Gold Stars in lieu of 7th Award, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

He is married to Megan (Spina) and has five children.
