Sergeant Major Daniel L. Krause enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1993 and began Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, California in June 1994.
Following completion of MCT,3513 Vehicle Body Repairman, and later 3521 Organizational Motor Transport Mechanic. He was then assigned to First Service Support Group Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as Motor Transport Mechanic.
In December 1995, he was transferred to Combat Service Support Detachment-36, Iwakuni, Japan.
In January 1997, he returned to First Service Support Group Camp Pendleton, California.
In January 2000, he volunteered for duty as a Drill Instructor. Upon completion of Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to Company H, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, for duty as a Drill Instructor. During his tour, he served five cycles as a Junior Drill Instructor, one cycle as a Senior Drill Instructor, one cycle as a Chief Drill Instructor, and nineteen months as the Battalion Drill Master.
In May 2004, he was transferred to 3rd Transportation Support Battalion, Okinawa.
In June 2005, he was transferred to Combat Logistic Battalion-1 (CLB-1) Camp Pendleton, California.
In February 2006, he deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom 5-7, where he served as Platoon Commander, Security Team Leader, CLB-7 Jump CP Commander, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Security Commander for CLB-7/RCT-7.
In January 2007 he was Promoted to First Sergeant and assumed the duties as Company First Sergeant, Alpha Company, Infantry Training Battalion.
In January 2008 1stSgt Krause was ordered to 3rd Battalion 7th Marines where he served as Company First Sergeant, Kilo Company, where he deployed twice to combat in support of OIF and OEF.
In July 2010 1stSgt Krause was wounded in combat operations and was transferred to Wounded Warrior Battalion West for a period of 7 months, 4 of which he held the billet as Company 1stSgt Alpha Company.
In April 2011 1stSgt Krause returned to the Operating Forces and assumed the duties as Company 1stSgt, Headquarters and Service Company, HQBN 1st Marine Division.
In December 2011 SgtMaj Krause was promoted to his current rank and assumed his duties as Bn SgtMaj 1st Battalion 11th Marines from December 2011 to June 2013.
In June 2013 he assumed the duties as Bn SgtMaj 1st Combat Engineer Battalion from June 13 to April 2015. During this time deployed with the Bn to OEF 13.2-14.1.
In April 2015 he assumed the duties as SgtMaj of The Basic School, Quantico, VA.
In April 2018 he assumed the duties as the SgtMaj of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command.
His personal awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (Gold star), Bronze Star (Combat Device and two Gold stars in lieu of third award), Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four gold stars in lieu of fifth award); Combat Action Ribbon, and other unit and service awards.
