Sergeant Major Morning graduated from Altoona Area High School in June 1995. He began Marine Corps Recruit Training on April 21, 1996 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC with Company L, Third Recruit Training Battalion.
In November 1996, Private First Class Morning reported to Headquarters & Service Company, 3d Marine Division where he served as a Motor Transport Operator.
In December 1997, Lance Corporal Morning reported to Base Motor Transportation Quantico, VA. While there he served as a Motor Transport Operator.
In September 2000, Sergeant Morning reported to 4th Marine Corps District, New Cumberland, PA. While there, he served as the District Commanding Officer’s Driver and Logistics Noncommissioned Officer.
In July 2003, Sergeant Morning reported to Drill Instructor School, Parris Island, SC. Upon graduation, Sergeant Morning was assigned to Fox Company, 2d Recruit Training Battalion. There, he held the billets of Drill Instructor, Experienced Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Instructor of Instructor Training Company, and 2d Battalion Drill Master.
In September 2007, Staff Sergeant Morning reported to Combat Logistics Company 21, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Cherry Point, NC. While there, he was augmented to Combat Logistics Battalion 2 and deployed to Iraq as the Unit Movement Control Center Chief.
In January 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Morning reported to Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC. There, he was assigned to Truck Company B and Headquarters Company, and held the billets of Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company First Sergeant. While there, Gunnery Sergeant Morning was the recipient of the Major General Clayton B. Vogel Award.
In March 2012, Gunnery Sergeant Morning reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 8 and deployed with Combat Logistics Regiment 2 as the Company First Sergeant for Combat Logistics Company 28.
In October 2013, First Sergeant Morning reported to Marine Detachment Fort Leonard Wood, MO as the First Sergeant of Engineer Equipment Instruction Company and Motor Transport Instruction Company.
In June 2017, Sergeant Major Morning reported to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162, the “Golden Eagles”. There he deployed as the ACE SgtMaj for the 26th MEU providing humanitarian assistance to the Virgin Islands after Hurricane’s Irma and Maria. The 26th MEU then deployed to the Mediterranean and Red Sea providing support to 5th and 6th fleet, including combat support to Operation INHERENT RESOLVE and AFRICOM contingency operations.
In September 2019 Sergeant Major Morning reported to his current post as the SgtMaj of 2D Assault Amphibian Battalion.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 gold stars, Navy Commendation Medal with 1 gold star and a Navy Achievement Medal.
