KARBALAH, Iraq- (June 18, 2005) Lance Cpl. Randy L. Williamson, a Marine from 2D Light Armored Reconnaissance, Charlie Company refuels his Light Armored Vehicle at a forward refueling point. Lance Cpl. Williamson is from East Stroudsburg, Pa. During Operation Spear, the Marines of 2d Marine Division conduct counter- insurgency operations with Iraqi Security Forces to isolate and neutralize anti-Iraqi forces, to support the continued development of Iraqi Security Forces, and to support Iraqi reconstruction and democratic elections in order to create a secure environment that enables Iraqi self-reliance and self-governance. - KARBALAH, Iraq- (June 18, 2005) Lance Cpl. Harden, a motor transport mechanic with Truck Company, headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division gets a tool from his tool box while repairing a part for a humvee he is working on. MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - An instructor with Coastal Carolina Community College hands Marine students some assignments back during a lunchtime class at the John A. Lejeune education center here. Active-duty military members are eligible to receive apprenticeship completion certificates, along with 100 percent tuition assistance for taking classes on the base campus, through postal correspondence and various universities online. William Jurney, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment's commander, introduces his Marines before the Secretary's breakfast with them here Jan. 9. During his daylong tour of the base, Winter spoke with several personnel from the 2nd Marine Division to get a firsthand account of how troops were training in garrison and conducting combat operations in the Global War on Terrorism overseas.
