10th Marine Regiment to Conduct Annual Kings’ Games
7 Feb 2023

Marines with 10th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division will conduct their annual Kings’ Games tournament on Feb. 9, 2023, at the 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Field on Camp Lejeune to commemorate St. Barbara’s Day, the annual celebration of the patron saint of artillery.

The Kings’ Games, which are titled to honor the historical nickname of artillery as “the king of battle,” will include multiple athletic and team-building events throughout the day and culminate with a ceremony in the evening. Marines will compete against each other in a 2.4-mile run in boots, a gun crew relay, a tug-of-war, a tire flip competition, a field antenna relay, and a trebuchet competition. The Games provide an opportunity to enhance the esprit de corps, unit cohesion, and comradery within 10th Marines. The Regimental leadership will also offer opening and closing remarks.

10th Marine Regiment is the sole artillery regiment within 2d Marine Division. They provide support through organic indirect fire assets while coordinating both lethal and non-lethal fires from other II Marine Expeditionary Force fire support agencies, in order to suppress, neutralize or destroy adversaries.

Interested media should RSVP with 2d Marine Division Communication Strategy and Operations at 2dmardivontherecord@usmc.mil at their earliest convenience. Attending media will meet a Division representative at the Wilson Blvd. Gate on the day of the event for escort to the training area. Interview opportunities are available with the 10th Marines Commanding Officer, Sergeant Major, and Marines participating in the event.
