MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – U.S. Marines from 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the Battalion with a battle colors rededication ceremony, a reception, and a vehicle display on April 5, 2024. 

Since its activation on April 4, 1984, 2d LAR Bn has served in combat and humanitarian operations around the world.  The reception immediately following the rededication ceremony included those who had served with the Battalion during its history, as well as their family and friends. 

The 2d LAR Bn performs combined arms reconnaissance and security missions in support of the ground combat element.  Its mission is to conduct reconnaissance, security and economy of force operations, and, within its capabilities, limited offensive or defensive operations that exploit the unit’s mobility and manpower.
