v36 Fire Support Exercise

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Marines with 3d Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division will conduct a live-fire, fire support coordination exercise on Camp Lejeune Sept 24, 2024. 

 

Fire support coordination exercises provide an opportunity for crews to accomplish near real world training on their weapon systems. This training is one part of the larger Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation that validates the Marines of 3d Battalion, 6th Marines are ready to deploy. 

 

3d Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment is one of the infantry battalions within 2d MARDIV. Their mission is to locate, close with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver or repel the enemy’s assault with fire and close combat.  

 

Interested media should RSVP with 2d MARDIV Communication Strategy and Operations at 2dmardivontherecord@usmc.mil before 12 p.m., Friday, Sept 20, 2024. Opportunities will include directly observing fire support activity and interviews with key leaders. Attending media will meet a designated command representative at the Wilson Blvd. Gate on Sept 24, 2024, for escort. Attendees will arrive at the gate no later than 7 a.m.  Final transport to the training area may require riding in a government vehicle and light hiking.
