MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (December 14, 2005) - Captain John L. Medeiros, Jr. and Sgt. Nathan W. Owens of 2nd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 2nd Marine Division were awarded the Navy Marine Corps Association Leadership Award Dec. 12. Medeiros was also awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation for his actions while deployed to Iraq. - MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (December 14, 2005) - Captain John L. He wanted to wear the gear, be in the trenches and drive in a tank to make him an official Marine. Sergeant Carlos F. CAMP HABBANIYAH, Iraq - Corporal Russell R. Hall, a wire man with the 2nd Marine Division Training Center, gives a class on the AK-47 to Iraqi Soldiers during the Iraqi Small Arms Weapons Instructors Course held here. Hall is responsible not only for maintaining the units telecommunications system but for assisting with the instruction of Iraqi Security Force personnel who attend various courses here. - CAMP HABBANIYAH, Iraq - Corporal Russell R. Donald Williams, 26, the supply chief with 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division gave up a basketball partial-scholarship to Louisiana State University to join the Marine Corps to help pay for school, but after succeeding during his first enlistment he reenlisted.
