MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Secretary of the Navy Donald C. Winter listens as Lt. Col. During his daylong tour of the base, Winter spoke with several personnel from the 2nd Marine Division to get a firsthand account of how troops were training in garrison and conducting combat operations in the Global War on Terrorism overseas. Petty Officer 3rd Class William Ojeda, the platoon corpsman for the Regimental Combat Team-2 Jump Team, stands in front of the Humvee from which he began lifesaving measures on two Marines critically wounded in an improvised explosive device blast. Ojeda, a Miami, Fla., native, has been in the Navy for five years, joining at the age of 16. The Jump Team is responsible for security for 2nd Marine Regiment commander Col. Stephen W. NEAR LAKE THARTHAR, Iraq (Jan. 8, 2006) - Two vehicles from Mobile Assault Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment provide a blocking position as Marines operate in a village nearby Jan. 8. The company-sized operation called Operation Long Horn, had Marines of the company searching remote areas of Western Al Anbar Province not previously traveled to by U.S. Forces.
