Because of the support from the helicopter squadron, also known as the “Wolfpack,” and cooperation between Army and Marine Corps logistics, Task Force Highlander and its supporting units continue to complete successful missions throughout the western Al Anbar province. Avery, a soldier who died while serving with the Fort Lewis, Wash.-based 571st Military Police Company, 504th MP Battalion, 42nd MP Brigade, in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The former Marine and Vietnam veteran has drawn portraits for the families of fallen service members for the past three and a half years. His more than 775 portraits are completely free to the families. Reagan has had families tell him his "real-looking" portraits capture the lives of their loved ones.
