As part of a time-honored tradition, Gunnery Sgt. Alvin W. Thomas, former first sergeant of Small Craft Company, is escorted to the water for a final swim. After 20 years in the Marine Corps, many of which were spent at Small Craft Company, he retired June 6 during the company's decomissioning ceremony.
