AR RAMADI, Iraq (May 29, 2005) - An Iraqi man hands Lance Cpl. James E. Evans, a squad automatic machine gunner with 3rd Squad, 4th Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, an AK-47 so he can inspect it during a mission in the city here. The 25-year-old from St. Louis and his fellow squad members searched several houses for weapons caches and questioned residents if they knew of insurgent activity. They also conducted a brief patrol through the marketplace where they talked to storeowners and shoppers and questioned them about insurgent activity. Photo by: Cpl. Tom Sloan
