AR RAMADI Iraq (July 5, 2005) -Sergeant John P. DeMaria, an anti-tank guided missile man with 1st Section, 2nd Platoon, Company W, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, hands an Iraqi boy a flyer, which explains in Arabic what locals should do with their trash cans, during a mission in the city here July 5. The 31-year-old from St. Louis, and Marines with 2nd Platoon conducted a proactive operation to encourage Ar Ramadi citizens to move their trashcans off the streets and place them in the yards and behind their homes. The Iraqi government recently distributed new, orange, industrial-sized trash containers throughout the city for citizens to use to clean up rubbish, but Marine officials with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines suspect insurgents will exploit them for terror and place improvised explosive devices in them.
