Gunnery Sgt. Jerome H. Murkerson, licensing chief, Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, is awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat "V" here October 14 by Lt. Col. Terrance Brennan, HQ Bn. commanding officer. Murkerson, an Adger, Ala., native received the award in recognition of his counter-sniper and -insurgency activities in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, while platoon commander of 1st Platoon, Small Craft Co. "Any time you can stop these guys from hurting another Marine it feels great. Me and my guys loved what we do, and that is get the bad guys," he said.
