MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.- Capt. Frank Diorio, 33, from Lake Hopatcong, N.J., receives the Bronze Star Medal from Brig. Gen. Joseph J. McMenamin, the assistant division commander of the 2nd Marine Division. Diorio, a 1996 Notre Dame graduate, was the company commander for Company I, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment in Husaybah, Iraq from February to September 2005 leading his company in over 275 engagements at Camp Gannon firm base and repelling a heavily insurgent-led attack on the base.
