Navy Chief Petty Officer Jesus Santiago, career counselor, 2nd Marine Division, kisses his son, Diego. Diego was made an honorary chief petty officer in a ceremony here today. The younger Santiago suffers from terminal cancer, and was pinned to his present grade to grant his wish to be more like his dad. "This means a lot to me," said the elder Santiago. "It's one of his dreams [to be in the Navy] that he's not going to be able to realize."
