Cpl. Jacob West rides in an Amphibious Assault Vehicle during operations in the Thar Thar Lake area of Iraq on June 18, 2005. The 2nd Marine Division and Multi-National Force-West are conducting counter-insurgency operations with Iraqi Security Forces to isolate and neutralize anti-Iraqi forces, support the continued development of Iraqi Security Forces, and to support Iraqi reconstruction and democratic elections in order to create a secure government that enables Iraqi self-reliance and self-governance. West is assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment.
