Fire team leaders with 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, receive guidance from an instructor before a small unit leaders’ course final exercise, Dec. 16. The three-week course consisted of a variety of live-fire ranges, an assault course, and a land navigation course as part of the battalion’s annual predeployment training. The Marines learned about various equipment and leadership principles as part of the challenging curriculum and assaulted an enemy machinegun bunker as part of the final exercise.
