Christian Haerter, the father of Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter, receives a comforting hug after the Navy Cross ceremony at the Museum of the Marine Corps here, Feb. 20. Christian’s son, Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter, was killed in action while defending his post in Ramadi, Iraq, April 22, 2008 against a suicide bomber. To date 27 Navy Crosses have been awarded in the “Global War on Terror.”
