First Lieutenant Brendan Neagle, an assistant future operations officer with Headquarters Company, Regimental Combat Team 8, braces for the pain he is receiving from a rubber tube being shoved through his nasal cavity during the practical application phase of a combat lifesavers course held at the regimental aid station on April 16, 2009, at Camp Ripper, Iraq. The rubber tubing is used when a casualty cannot breathe from the mouth or because of blockage.
