A Marine from 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, firmly holds the cases of nine Purple Heart medals to be presented at an awards ceremony held February 4, 2011, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. The Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the President and is America’s oldest decoration still presented to service members.
