Amos, the commandant of the Marine Corps, after the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation’s fourth annual Citizen Service Before Self Honors ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery March 25, 2011. Conley received the Citizen Service Before Self Honors Medal on behalf of his mother, Marie Conley of Boston, who was recognized for sacrificing her own life to save a young boy by shielding him with her own body from a car that was barreling towards him October 21, 2008.
