Lance Cpl. Matthew Frank runs diagnostic checks on the air conditioning system of a damaged tow truck at Forward Operating Base Marjah, Helmand province, Afghanistan, April 5. The 20-year-old Massillon, Ohio native is a quality control mechanic with the Motor transportation section for 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, and is currently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is responsible for checking the cooling systems on all the trucks the mechanics work on. The shop has repaired more than 370 vehicles since arriving in Afghanistan in December. "I love coming out here and doing my job," said Frank. "All the trucks we fix makes me feel like I'm an important piece to the big puzzle." The battalion is currently assigned to Regimental Combat Team 1, 2nd Marine Division (Forward).
