U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Marco Mancha/Released 110429-M-0000M-011.jpg

A local boy walks through a poppy field toward a Marine in a small village nearby. Children frequently come out to greet the Marines and Afghan National Army soldiers attached to the unit. The Marine later took his right glove off and extended his hand toward the boy to greet him. The boy timidly covered his smiling face and returned the gesture by slowly reaching for the Marine’s hand. The Marines always try to be respectful of Afghan customs and courtesies by taking the time to remove their right glove and eye protection when greeting the local villagers. ::r::::n::::r::::n::::r::::n::
