Petty Officer 3rd Class Avery Alejandro, the preventative medicine specialist with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division (Forward), went from the relaxing beaches of Santa Maria, Calif., to the dunes of Afghanistan. During his pre-deployment training he found a passion for photography and now aspires to go to the Tisch School of Photography in New York City when his enlistment ends next year.
