Bowling Green, Ky., native Lance Cpl. David R. Jones is a rifleman with Company G, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment. Jones said the biggest challenge for him was starting the deployment in the cold, rainy winter and acclimating to Afghanistan’s hot, dry summer. The 20-year-old spent the seven-month deployment patrolling through the area of Trek Nawa, helping to clear the region of the insurgency.
