Corporal Jayananda D. Braeger, a Berkeley, Calif., native and an M2 .50 caliber machine gunner with Echo Company’s mobile unit, peers through a set of binoculars looking for any imminent threat that could endanger his fellow Marines or their mission. Marines with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, participated in Operation Double Check recently, in which they cleared a number of villages along the southern Musa Qal’eh wadi, or dry riverbed, and established three new Afghan Uniformed Police security posts on the western side of the wadi.
