Marines with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, slept in the open during Operation Double Check, an operation to clear several villages along the southern Musa Qal’eh riverbed to establish a security presence there. The Marines patrolled day and night, from 12-14 kilometers a day, and provided their own security during the periods they could sleep.
