Navy sailors guide landing craft, air cushions into the well deck of the USS Kearsarge Jan. 31. The exercise focuses on today’s fight with today’s forces, while showcasing the advantages of seabasing. Logistics make the seabasing concept possible. Equipment must be offloaded in a quick and efficient manner, possibly under fire. Thirty days’ worth of supplies can be stored on ship to support the troops on shore, and logistics ensure those supplies get to the troops.
