Lance Cpl. Michael Mills, a scout with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, checks two sets of grouped bullet holes as he adjusts the rifle optic on his M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle for accuracy. The Wytheville, Va., native served a combat tour to Afghanistan with the M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon but said he immediately preferred the M27 IAR after firing it for the first time.
