Lance Cpl. Michael Mills, a scout with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, fires the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle on full auto for the first time. The Wytheville, Va., native loves everything about the rifle from its accuracy and smooth trigger pull to its light weight and slim build. Mills said that his favorite feature of the M27 IAR is how easy they are to clean. The rifle is designed so that 95 percent of the carbon is blown out the barrel so that even after dozens of rounds have been shot, as Mills put it, it looks like it hasn’t been fired once.
