Ferguson, from Falls Church, Va., infantryman, India Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, scans the tree-line from his fighting hole during a battalion field exercise May 16. The week-long training operation focused on the evaluation of small unit leaders and their teams in order to set the foundation for building stronger squads.
