A Marine from 3rd Platoon, Company K, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, fires an M249 squad automatic weapon at the enemy during a firefight July 24 at Observation Post Kakar, Afghanistan. A squad of Marines on patrol from Patrol Base 302 came under attack. Using superior fire power, the Marines at the post suppressed the contact allowing the patrolling Marines to safely return to the base.
