Retired Marine Sgt. Arthur Obee faces the Marines presenting him with the Congressional Gold Medal at his home in Wilmington, N.C., Aug. 18, 2012. Obee was a rifleman from 1942 until 1962, and received the award for the adversity he endured at Montford Point, NC, when he entered the service as one of the first African-American Marines.
