Retired Marine Sgt. Arthur Obee wipes away tears as Marines from nearby Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune present him with the Congressional Gold Medal, the nation’s highest civilian honor bestowed by Congress, Aug 18, 2012. Obee received the award in his home for his service at Montford Point, N.C. and subsequent 51st Defense Battalion and 52nd Defense Battalion, all segregated units under which he served in World War II and Korea.
