Sgt. Justin L. Waitman, a tank commander with Delta Company, 2nd Tank Battalion, Regimental Landing Team 2, directs an M1A1 Abrams Tank driven by Lance Cpl. Devon R. Shumaker, a tank crewman, in preparation to load on to a landing craft, air cushion before departing to the landing dock platform USS San Antonio during Exercise Bold Alligator 2012 on Feb. 1. This exercise, the largest naval amphibious exercise in the past 10 years, represents the Navy and Marine Corps’ revitalization of the full range of amphibious operations. Bold Alligator is scheduled to run through Feb. 12 afloat and ashore in and around Virginia and North Carolina.
