Sergeant Maj. Jonathan D. The battalion commander (left) passes on the Non-Commissioned Officer Sword to symbolize a transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability between the sergeants major. Martin is returning to the United States from a tour of duty at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he was the company first sergeant for Marine Corps Security Force Co. This is Martin’s first billet as a sergeant major since being promoted in Feb. 2014.
