Sergeant Maj. Timonthy J. Rudd gives thanks to the families, friends, Marines and sailors in attendance during the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Post and Relief ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., March 3, 2014. Sergeant Maj. Jonathan D. Martin took his post as the new battalion sergeant major. The battalion commander passes on the Non-Commissioned Officer Sword to symbolize a transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability between the sergeants major. Rudd has been the battalion sergeant major since Jan. 2012.
