Sergeant Maj. Timonthy J. Rudd gives the Marines of 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division his final thanks and goodbyes as he was relieved from his post as the battalion sergeant major aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., March 3, 2014. Sergeant Maj. Jonathan D. Martin took his post as the new battalion sergeant major. The battalion commander passes on the Non-Commissioned Officer Sword to symbolize a transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability between the sergeants major. Rudd has been the battalion sergeant major since Jan. 2012.
