Major Gen. Charles M. Gurganus, previously the deputy commanding general of Marine Corps Combat Development Command, stands in formation with his wife as she receives an award for supporting Gurganus through his time in the Marine Corps at his retirement ceremony, May 15, 2014, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. Gurganus is retiring after 38 years of faithful service to the Marine Corps and will be returning to his hometown of Wilmington, N.C.
