Pfc. Samuel J. Gennusa, an assault amphibious vehicle crewman, drives his AAV off of the USS Whidbey Island to conduct a Gator Square with other Marines in his platoon off the coast of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Sept. 10, 2014. A Gator Square is completed when the assault amphibious vehicles form a square out at sea and maneuver back onto the ship. Alpha Company Marines spent two days on Onslow Beach testing their AAVs before taking them out to sea to board the USS Whidbey Island in order to conduct the ship operations.
