Marines with the Machine Gunner’s Course load an M240B medium machine gun during a live-fire exercise aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 23, 2014. During the first week of the course the Marines spend a day on each of the machine guns, disassembling and assembling them, memorizing their nomenclature, their rate of fire and similar knowledge they would need to use should they be required to use one of the weapon systems in a combat situation.
