AL QA'IM, Iraq (March 31, 2005)- From the driver's seat of a high mobility multi-wheeled vehicle, the security platoon of 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment leaves Camp Al Qa'im to secure a meeting between the 5th Civil Affairs Group and local Iraqi leaders. CAMP FALLUJAH, IRAQ – Corporal Jeff Stockton provided security while his fellow Marines in Company I, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 8, cut the locks on local warehouses as they searched over a total of 100 buildings. The manager of the facility helped out greatly unlocking what he could, while others were cut to ensure no insurgent activity or weapons caches were inside. HURRICANE POINT, Ar Ramadi, Iraq (March 12, 2005) -- Lance Cpl. Marshall S. Spring, a military dog handler with Operation Force Protection, I Marine Expeditionary Force, throws a tennis ball for his partner, Rex, a three-year-old Belgium Malonois, to chase. Spring, 21, of Ashland, Oregon, and Rex are deployed here from Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom while attached to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. Marines from the 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion ride into the city of Akashat as the sun rises. The Marines raided the city March 26 in search of insurgent activity. CAMP FALLUJAH, IRAQ – Iraqis from the surrounding area of Nasser Wa Salaam gathered together for a peace rally after two Iraqi National Guardsman died a few days earlier from insurgent attacks. Walking up to the local police station chanting, they showed their support for a peaceful Iraq and support for Coalition Forces. Company K, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 8, provided security around the police station and surrounding areas as the rally moved throughout the area. The tour features Spencer Humm and John Davis, Hack and Slash, and Todd "Ripe Zucchini" Key and juggler Dan Thurmon.
